Increasing the Speed of Internet Explorer

Many people who regularly surf the web using an Internet explorer browser are always searching for ways to increase the speed of their browsing, without upping their net costs each month. Here are a few quick methods you can use to increase the speed of your IE for free.

Firstly you can set your IE so that it will only show certain files (jpg, wmv. etc) when you want them to, this allows you to quickly browse pages without a huge lag due to large files being loaded. Then when you need to access these files you simply undo this setting for the page, here is how you do it;

• Click the Internet Options tab in the tools dropdown
• Click on the advanced tab in this box
• Uncheck the boxes for the files you don't want to show (video, sound etc)
• Click apply and you are done

Now if you need to watch a video or see a picture in a website simply reverse this process on that page, then re-do it when you are done.

While you are still in the Internet Options box there are some other things you should disable;

AutoComplete

• Click on the content tab
• Click on the AutoComplete settings
• Click to clear the Forms and User names and passwords on forms check boxes, click OK, and then click OK

Security

• Click on the security tab
• Click custom level
• Click Disable for one or more of the items in the following Active Content areas:
  • ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins (prevents Internet Explorer from automatically using items that show active content)
  • Java (prevents Internet Explorer from viewing Java programs automatically)
  • Scripting
• If you disable ActiveX, Java, and scripting, you may not be able to view Web sites that use these features
• Click OK twice and you are done.
