Uninstall Programs From Windows
From time to time you will need to remove (or uninstall) programs and software from your operating system. I was surprised when I found out how many people just delete the icon from their desktop and believe that has deleted the program, that just delete's the shortcut to the program.
To delete the program you must fully uninstall the actual program totally from your PC, some people may have the need to do this to speed up their computer.
The process to uninstall programs is slightly different in Windows XP to Windows Vista;
Windows XP
- Click Start
- Click Control Panel
- Click Add or Remove Programs
- Go to the currently installed programs box and click on the program that you want to remove
- Click Remove
- If you are prompted to confirm the removal of the program, click Yes
Windows Vista
- Click start
- Click control panel
- Click programs and features
- From the list given select the program you want to delete
- Now from the top menu click on the uninstall button
Make sure that the program that you click in the Programs tool is the program that you want to remove from your computer. Some programs may not prompt you to confirm the removal before the program is removed from the computer.
You can only remove a program with the Programs tool if the program is written for Windows. If you do not see the program that you want to remove in the currently installed programs box, view the program documentation for instructions about how to remove it.
