OS X Leopard

You may or may not have heard all the hype about the release of Apple’s latest opertaing system OS X Leopard, it has been a massive success in the first weekend of it becomming available. Here is what apple had to say about it;

“Apple® today announced that it sold (or delivered in the case of maintenance agreements) over two million copies of Mac OS® X Leopard since its release on Friday, far outpacing the first-weekend sales of Mac OS X Tiger, which was previously the most successful OS release in Apple’s history.

Sales included copies sold at Apple’s retail stores, Apple Authorized Resellers, the online Apple Store®, under maintenance agreements and bundled with new Mac® computers. Leopard is the sixth major release of Mac OS X and is packed with more than 300 new features.

Early indications are that Leopard will be a huge hit with customers,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Leopard’s innovative features are getting great reviews and making more people than ever think about switching to the Mac.”

Early reports from around the world say that there are quite a few bugs in the system, but that’s not to say that Leopard is a bad system. Just look at the amount of problems Microsoft had with Vista and the millions of people who still use it. But as the old saying goes, if you are a Mac fan you will love it and vice versa.

Many people who regularly surf the web using an Internet explorer browser are always searching for ways to increase the speed of their browsing, without upping their net costs each month. Here are a few quick methods you can use to increase the speed of your IE for free.

Firstly you can set your IE so that it will only show certain files (jpg, wmv. etc) when you want them to, this allows you to quickly browse pages without a huge lag due to large files being loaded. Then when you need to access these files you simply undo this setting for the page, here is how you do it;

Delete Startup Programs from MSCONFIG

Posted on October 26th, 2007 in General Issues, Shortcuts / Hints, System Settings by admin

I have just recieved an email from one of our readers on deleting programs on startup, it goes;

‘Jim, I am trying to delete programs that try to start on the bootup process, I was told to go to control panel – all programs – startup and to delete unwanted program. But I did all that and I am still having massive problems at bootup with many programs like skype trying to start up, and my boot takes around 5 mins. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.’

Well Nicole you have done half the process for deleting programs starting up on your boot (you are not deleting the actual program), all you need now to do is to delete them through msconfig.

To access msconfig do the following;

  • Type run in your start search
  • Type msconfig in the run area
  • Click on the startup tab
  • Uncheck the programs you don’t want at startup
  • Click apply and you are done

I hope that helps out with your bootup Nicole, for any more questions please swing an email.
