More Than 12,000 Laptops Lost Each Week

Posted on July 8th, 2008 in General Issues by admin

I don’t usually post anything about crimes etc but this story I found to be amazing.

It is being reported that according to a study commissioned by Dell more than 12,000 laptop computers are being lost in U.S. airports every week.

“Close to 10,278 laptops are reported lost every week at 36 of the largest US airports, and 65% of those laptops are not reclaimed, the survey said. Around 2,000 laptops are recorded lost at the medium-sized airports, and 69% are not reclaimed.”

According to the study, most laptops go missing at airport security checkpoints.

Dell, incidentally, is using the study results to promote various data-protection products and services it markets to road warriors. Such services may indeed be appropriate for some travelers.

So next time you travel make sure you keep 3 eyes on your lappy at all times.
