This tweak requires a pretty simple registry hack;

Open regedit
Navigate here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
Create a new DWORD
Call it WriteProtect
Set the value to 00000001
Reboot your computer
Done

<p>One of Microsofts exec&#8217;s hinted that all attendants at the January 2009 MSDN event will be given a dvd with a copy of the beta version of Win7 (although many beta versions seem to be already be circulating) .</p>
<p>The full version of Windows 7 should be released somewhere in late 09 or early 2010, we will keep you posted on new developments about the operating system.</p>

<p>Some people may find that it just clutters up their taskbar and is useless, while others may prefer to use it rather than using their browser. This tweak can be done in both Windows XP and Vista;</p>
<ul>
<li>Right click on your taskbar</li>
<li>Click toolbars</li>
<li>Check address</li>
<li>Done</li>
<li>Type in a URL and the page will open up in your default browser</li>

<p>Just follow these points and you will turn it off in a second;</p>
<ul>
<li>Open control panel</li>
<li>Click sound</li>
<li>Click on the sounds tab</li>
<li>Scroll down till you see start navigation and click on it</li>
<li>Go down to the sounds dropdown and select none</li>
<li>Click apply and OK</li>

Here is a quick tip for you to do so that you can create a backup of your registry so you can restore your systems registry files if something bad happens (this should work in all windows operating systems).</p>

<li>Go to Start</li>
<li>Open Run</li>
<li>Type in: regedit</li>
<li>Choose File from the toolbar in your reg editor</li>
<li>Select Export</li>
<li>Name the backup (registry_backup_081001.reg &#8211; example)</li>
<li>At the bottom of the window you will see the Export Range category. Tick the &#8220;All&#8221; selection.</li>
<li>Save</li>
<li>Done</li>
